Because I could not stop for Death

I love Emily Dickinson as a poet so i was really thrilled to go over "Because I could not stop for Death" in class. What i like most about it is the personification of Death; he doesn't seem foreboding so much as a gentleman. He drives the carriage with caution and is described as civil. Is she saying that Death, in her case, is courteous? The way that she capitalizes "Death" shows that he is a companion to her, which is an interesting notion. They seem to have a comfortable companionship.
